EVERY weekend we have to travel to brentwood to go to...

1. Supermarket

2. PetsMart

We are so used it to. Almost scary that we could actually walk everywhere for our needs. Considering there was almost nothing 2 years ago.
You do know there is a PetsMart on Kingshighway right? Quicker than Brentwood from downtown too, or at least just as quick.

There is no Trader Joe's on Kingshiway though. Many people travel to Brentwood so they can hit 2 places in one trip. TJ's and PetsMart together. That was the point of wishing there was a TJ's downtown.

You are 'bitter party of one'!

No, she means Shrewsbury.

What will be the closest vet to your store?

Will you periodically have pet adoption events?

We will be stocking all of those things you have requested for your rabbit.

Actually a downtown vet may be on the way....

Absolutely we will have pet adoption events. The manager has been looking into that for months as well as a few other surprises. Fill out our survey if you want to come to the opening event, there all of your questions will be answered.

No, she means Shrewsbury.
I assumed she was referring to the ever-present speedtrap in Marlborough. Shrewsbury occassionally sets one up, but the town just ain't that big, so it is pretty easy to avoid...or, you could just not speed for the thirty seconds it takes to drive thorugh - unless you have some other reason to be wary of the police?

^We may have a some basic turtle supples such as food, but we will probably not stock a wide array of turtle products. If the survey responses change or if upon opening there is demand, then we may start carrying more things for turtles. I have personally read every survey response and I assure you tha if you have filled out the survey, your voice will be heard!

What dog food brands will you be carrying?

The location/parking combination will be good for people like me who pick up items on their way home from work.

Off the top of my head the primary brands we will be carrying are Science Diet, Nutro, Purina, Eukenuba, Iams, and Kaytee. We will stock much more than this, but that gives you a basic idea of the types of foods/supplies we are stocking.

I am very close to finishing the Beta website. I'll let this forum know when it is up, as it will have more information on what we will be providing. Currently, we are testing the site across MacOS, Linux, and Windows on all of the primary browsers, once we finish this, I'll let you all take a crack at it.

Compliments on the logo. Nice, and very clean.

By the way Mike, what do you plan, if anything, with respect to fish and fish supplies?

^Thanks!

We will have tetra fish foods and some aquarium equipment. Very shortly, you will be able to see exactly what we have from the comfort of your living room. In fact, I just made the second stage of our website live!

As fast as my dog scarfs down her food, I just wonder if gourmet, freshly baked dog treats would be kind of lost on her.

I will definitely try out the self serve dog wash though.

You really should look into this. That should have been done by whoever your general contractor was for your buildout. They should have had a building permit with an estimated time for completion filed with the city. At the end of that period, they should have started the process for the occupancy permit. It only takes a week or so to get the actual inspections, after that it's all red tape with the city. A good GC can force it all through in less than a month. If you are caught operating without a permit, the city can shut you down until you pay the heavy fines they will levy upon you.

Thanks for your wishes of luck!

I wish it was that simple. I took an existing space - no general contractor to call for help. Thank goodness the city knew about the hold up and worked with our landlord and the FD to resolve. You are correct the inspections only take a week - the red tape was the problem. And no they did not shut us down or levy fines. In fact FX Daly gave me a proclamation at our 1 year anniversary (still w/o permits & license). Overall, the city is great to work with - especially Robert Porter in the assisatance center.

I'm glad to see the City hasn't been harassing you about operating without a permit. It is good that they didn't run a business out of town because I know the city can be anti-business at times. FX Daly works with the Department of Revenue for tax collection, and occupancy permits are issued by the Buildings Division/The Department of Public Safety. It's they who would create problems for you, and sometimes city departments don't talk to each other so tread lightly about not having an Occupancy Permit.

As to Zink's question, I just got a call from my GC, I have our Occupancy Permit and as of right now we are shooting to be open for business tomorrow. I expect online shopping to be available two weeks after that, as well as the launch party. I'll keep members of this forum in the loop on the launch party and I hope you come out with your animals in support!

How about sports team bandanas for dogs...they are surprisingly hard to find. Specifically I am looking for Mizzou, but you could sell a lot of Illinois, Cardinals, Rams, Blues, SLU, etc. I would think...
