Cherokee Street Cinco de Mayo cancelled this year.

 https://www.ksdk.com/article/news/local/organizers-cancel-cherokee-street-cinco-de-mayo-festival/63-ce9e7d97-0d14-4dae-8a0d-6f47e71af2ac
Organizers said rising costs and the increasing scale of producing the event were key factors in the decision.
"This festival, that was officially formed in 2007 as a way to introduce more folks from around St. Louis to Cherokee Street and it evolved into one of the most beloved and large-scale street festivals in the region," he said. "It has provided a boost to our community that has helped make Cherokee Street what it is today."
Although there will be no formal festival, local businesses will remain open and offer festive celebrations. The press release said many bars and restaurants will offer specials, in-house entertainment and experiences for revelers to enjoy.
Organizers said the change is not a "permanent goodbye," and they are developing "new, reimagined events" to celebrate the neighborhood's cultural richness.

So no formal festival but the bars and restaurants will still have celebrations.

Did they get Intel that ICE planned to make a show there and this is an attempt to throw them off?

We'll be SO much better when this federal administration ends.

This is a huge disappointment, a very popular event that had definitely became a real staple in StL and showcases our most eclectic street that doesn’t get enough attention from outside visitors or regional residents

Hope this is brought back next year

Seems to be a pretty last minute cancellation so not sure what ultimately decided this

I think there were a lot of factors at play here. Several sponsors pulled out for one reason or another. A lot of Latino businesses seem to be laying low to protect their staff and customers from pervading ICE fears. The weather can be hit or miss. Last year it was a big miss- the festival was rained out early, meaning lots of $$ and preparation down the drain from lost sales and/or drenched food, merch and equipment. And of course, security is always top of mind, and a lower Cinco budget means less $$ for extra security.  I am hopeful that the street comes alive regardless- there’s no better place to be on Cinco de Mayo than Cherokee Street!
