^Cincy's skyline definitely punches above it's weight. IMO more impressive than any other Ohio city's.
I visited Cincinnati in the fall and I have to agree with stlgasm's comment above from 2016--the city seems to be overlooked by St. Louisans looking for weekend trips. I'll also agree with the comment that outside downtown and the incredibly dense Over the Rhine area the urbanity of Cincy drops off much more precipitously than we see here in STL.
The same geography--riverfront, hills--that make for a beautiful skyline also account for the city feeling much less urban in many of the neighborhoods outside of downtown/OTR.
Some observations from 2022 to compare to gasm's comments above--We visited the Mt. Adams neighborhood on a Sunday afternoon and caught some Bengals football in a fun local pub. From what folks there were saying that neighborhood is not nearly the late night party spot as it was 5-10 years ago. Not sure if COVID played a part in that or if the nabe was changing pre virus.
Over the Rhine continues gentrifying north but there was still a shooting right outside a brewpub we were at on a Saturday afternoon in broad daylight. Thankfully no one was killed but the local news folk were out asking people "do you feel safe here--yada yada". The worker we spoke to at the brewpub (Taft's) said she's lived in OTR for several years and feels safe but that gunplay happens from time to time. FWIW Ohio has pretty lenient gun laws I believe.
Findlay Market did some things I wish Soulard Market would do (i.e. open on Sunday, local vendors with fast breakfast options, more outdoor seating)
