Noticed a sign went up for Chipotle on Kirkwood Rd. Add another chain to that area!

It's new construction in the parking lot of the shopping center with Hobby Lobby, near the Vianney entrance and 44/Lindbergh.

Something was torn down at this location. Anybody know what was there before?

I believe it was originally a Po' Folks restaurant back in the 90's. I think recently it had been a Chinese Buffet.

A fair to poor Chinese buffet.

Po' Folks, there's a blast from the past.

Sunny China, I think. It was there for a good number of years after Po' Folks left. My grandparents used to love the place. They had pretty good fried chicken, actually, but the chinese food was just OK.

I have a sudden urge to drink my soda out of a mason jar at lunch today.

Po' Folks!

Wow, I haven't thought about that place in years. That used to be my family's Friday night tradition. Chicken fried steak at Po'Folks and then rush home to catch "Mr. Belvedere". Eventually we learned to program that top loading VCR that weighed 80 lbs so we didn't have to choke down our mashed taters and iced tea!

good times :)

I have yet to find a Chinese buffet around here that isn't "fair to poor", and for the record, I really like Chinese food.

Anyway, I'm glad to see Chipotle is still expanding its presence in the area, and this is a pretty good location. After all, I guess every new restaurant in Kirkwood can't be located in downtown! 8)

The Chinese buffet in Lindbergh just north of 270 is actually very good. It's about the only place where you're not running for the bathroom 30 minutes after finishing lunch.

I remember Sunny China. I've been there a couple times, but it was okay. Didn't realized it closed. There is a good chinese restaurant on Dorsett called Ryce Oriental Buffet behind McDonalds between McKelvey and Marine Rd.

Then there is Emperor's Palace in the Valley....that one is okay.

Bamboo Bistro downtown is a pretty good lunch buffet. They seem to focus more on good ingredients, less mystery meat.

Try Happy China on Olive in West County if you're in the neighborhood.

I second that. Best Chinese buffet in the area. Great variety in food, and it actually tastes like good chinese food, not something they threw in the microwave. Don't expect much out of the decor though.

Happy China?! Oh mercy the last time I ate there I put my plate back. All the meats were swimming is some greasy soup.

They are having the free day on this Wednesday (28th) and Grand Opening on Friday the 30th.

Note: I like the design of the free-standing building. I am not sure if any of the other locations were new builds. Has good visibility from 44. I'm sure this locale will do well for them.

Those Vianney boys are going to kill them at lunch and after school.
