St. Louis Children’s Hospital ranked among the top five pediatric hospitals in the nation, according to a study of more than 100 children’s hospitals released by Parents magazine.

St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s No. 5 ranking is the highest overall for the hospital since the survey began in 2001.

The hospital is the only one in Missouri, Illinois and the surrounding eight-state region to make the list.

This is wonderful news, and a big booster to the spirits of BJC, Children's, and an ego booster for St. Louis. Congratulations.

That's good news, but I'll still take my son to Cardinal Glennon. 30 min waiting room wait > 3 hour waiting room wait

This is fantastic news, although I believe Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center deserves similar recognition. At the risk of sounding completely sappy, I will be forever grateful to the people at Cardinal Glennon for everything that they did for my son when he was born prematurely just over five years ago. :)

We're definitely lucky to have two great children's hospitals here.

Good news. I think St. Louis Children's Hospital moved up this year. St. Louis is a strong center for pediatric medicine.

Also, don't forget Ranken-Jordan Pediatric Specialty Hospital in Maryland Heights. Ranken-Jordan is among a handful of acute care pediatric hospitals in the nation for children with intensive rehabilitative needs.

Doctors from Wash U school of medicine form the staff at Children's. I imagine that's a significant effect in these rankings.

^ And Cardinal Glennon, SLU doctors? I've dated neurologists from both SLU and WashU. Those were good times, but it was determined that I was a head case.

No idea. The rankings are based on opinion surveys sent to other children's hospitals, where they rank each other. I imagine Wash U's top 2 med school ranking influences some of the people highly.

Children's also runs a tight ship that's very focused on the children and making sure they're happy and comfortable.

Full disclosure: my girlfriend works for Children's

I have no experience with Cardinal Glennon so can make no comment.
