These Chicago companies just opened new offices downtown. Here’s what the post-pandemic workplace looks like.
https://www.chicagotribune.com/business ... story.html
Tech giant Cisco Systems opened its 130,000-square-foot space in the Old Post Office in July. Accenture, the global consulting firm, moved into its new 264,000-square-foot Chicago headquarters in the renamed Accenture Tower last month.

The openings follow Meta/Facebook, which launched its new Loop headquarters in June, covering 263,000 square feet across 11 floors at 151 N. Franklin St. In March, Edelman, the world’s largest public relations firm, fully moved into its new 92,000-square-foot loft space in the Gogo building, a century-old former warehouse at 111 N. Canal St. in the West Loop.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but they're having a NACAR race in Grant Park next year (not without some controversy).

I know this building.  All those windows on the long side have active elevated train tracks right across the street.  Can't imagine how loud the apartments on that side of the building will be.  Pilsen has just exploded in the last 10 years.

Anyone in or from Chicago who has thoughts on the mayoral primary results?
For an incumbent to come in 3rd and with only 16% is unusual to say the least.

No construction yet, but the 102 floor, 1422' Tribune East Tower is still moving forward.

There's quite a fight brewing in Chicago concerning the new Bears stadium ($8B). Mayor Brandon Johnson is the biggest cheerleader for it and his fellow "progressives" are not happy about it. Pritzker is against it, for the moment anyway. I've been listening to the Score lately for some reason, mostly the Bernstein and Holmes show. Big fight.

300 W. Adams in Chicago sold for a 90% discount a couple months ago.

5 downtown Chicago office buildings traded at 50% or greater discounts in 2023.

Crazy how all of the new NFL stadiums are appearing to emulate SOFI Stadium. They all have a similar look. KC, Chicago, etc. .

Reminds me of when Busch Stadium II basically had twins in Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Atlanta and Philadelphia.

If this gets built before the surface lots and Stadium garages are built on around Busch Stadium, I will lose my mind

Chicago with three ambitious mixed use mega developments lately around Sox, Bears, now Blackhawks/Bulls. Plus the Bally casino. Lots of huge multi billion dollar proposals.

I wonder if the Blues could work with Union Station and the city on developing mixed use around its arena. That would give a huge jolt of consistent activity downtown where right now it comes in waves

And please, can we finish BPV and start developing on the surface lots in right field, Cupples, Stadium garages, and across interstate.

I actually think this United Center one makes sense and might actually happen. I'm surprised by the growth of the West Loop/Fulton Market/Near West Side and how the area around it is filling in. For those that don't remember back in the 80s and 90s that area was very rough and downtrodden.

Unfortunately, I don't know that I see the Cardinals and Cordish moving on Ballpark Village expansion until they see what happens with Butler Bros, AT&T, RX, and possibly even the Millennium site.

St. Louis has got to figure out a way to get those last three projects underway.

I guess it’s becoming a chicken and egg situation. Projects will make other projects more attractive but we can’t seem to get them off the ground.

Those surface lots and single use garages just are not providing them the money they can make with other development. It has just moved so slow

Another huge mega Chicago project.

Seems like this would’ve made a lot of sense to pitch sites in East St. Louis. Maybe there will be future bids for similar type projects to do so.

Illinois is throwing all their darts at Chicago trying to make sure it doesn’t fall off anymore. The lack of job growth and population decline is sending off signals in Springfield. Metro East continues to get ignored.

Wish our state government went all in on revitalizing St. Louis by drawing industry here. It makes a world of difference when the state government values the city. Chicago gets every bit of help it can get in Illinois.

I wonder if Illinois would ever decide to invest more into Metro East and the St. Louis region if job growth can be maintained.

The traditional postcard view of downtown St. Louis comes from the east bank of the Mississippi River. You would think, if that area could be stabilized with better infrastructure and some more jobs, that hotel rooms, rooftop bars and restaurants, etc., would work beautifully.

The area isn't scary. It's a blank slate. I see tons of potential.

It may require getting downtown St. Louis to really hum, both statistically and in the perception of the public, before we can entertain these ideas, though.

No. Illinois is Chicago. As far as they're concerned almost nothing exists south of I-80

I think Pritzker and his administration have been more fair to St. Louis and southern Illinois than previous Illinois governors.

They've helped fund some major Metro East projects, including the five-mile MetroLink red line extension to Mid-America airport.

But I agree that it isn't nearly what it could or should be.

I've always thought Illinois was shortsighted ignoring the East St. Louis riverfront. It could be really be something special if redeveloped.
