A group of real estate investors out of Chicago says it has two downtown St. Louis buildings under contract with plans to turn them into a new mixed-used community.
Not sure what buildings they are talking about so i posted here so that someone can post the full story.

The buildings are 1706 and 1601 Olive. Only thing notable in the story is that Next City Group who purchased the properties work exclusively with national retailers, so you'd have to assume they have someone lined up or they wouldn't have locked up the buildings.

Can we combine this thread with the other one? Not sure what best title would be.

Trader Joes? For real? I really want Lucky's to open in Ely Walker, but I will take a TJ on olive. Hopefully this "plan" pans out. Could be a boost to loft values...

^ when that Lucky's news came out I was really dubious, and obviously it hasn't happened yet but it's good to see that another developer is also pursuing something in Downtown West... I think that signals that we're at least getting close to the demographics to get another downtown grocer. And as you say either one would be great.

1706 Olive is the seven-story corner building at 17th Street. Right between Butler Bros. and the 7-Eleven.

1601 Olive is the old AFRAM HQ building and would be the grocer.
