Great pic, Brent! That lobby will look incredible once restored.
Gotta love those 1980's drop-ceiling rehabs.

70's too!
Looking back, it's amazing any one thought that was a good idea, but it must of seemed like it was at the time. Remember too that HVAC systems weren't as advanced as they are today, so "cutting off" all that unused space saved a lot in heating and cooling costs. Or at least that was the intent.
So the old ceiling's actually mosaic? As in lots and lots of little tiles? That's awsome. Hopefully most (if not all) of the original ceiling is still up there.
Dooley's is repainting their halftimbers this morning, which seems a good indication they aren't being asked to leave.

From the Business Journal:
Article
Only two tenants are expected to remain -- Dooley's Ltd. storefront restaurant, 308 N. Eighth, and a pie shop on the building's southwest corner.
Article
I think they mean the Thai Express. Doesn't that take up the entire southwest corner?

Pie, Thai. Tomato, tomahto. Maybe the P-D's proofreader is working at the Business Journal now.
They have raised a HUGE ALEXA banner on the west side of the building. It is gold and quite striking and noticable. Nicely done though.
That Thai place is the BEST LUNCH downtown. ok, one of them. $6 bucks for a HUGE plate of thai.. MMMMMMMM that restauarant should stay.. I'm sure it won't though..
Please post that picture in the thread where we were all arguing with that lady about not needing more parking. I don't see a single car anyhwere in that picture. Cool view, though.

The only times I've ever had trouble finding a spot east of Tucker has been when there is an afternoon Cardinals game. Otherwise, parking is a relative breeze.

^ Try it during rush times on a weekday..
but its certainly not a lack of spaces that's the problem, more-so the getting to them, finding a meter (or entering a labyrinthine overpriced parking deck) by fighting the traffic and the ridiculous amalgamation of one-way streets, haphazard lane markings, and unsynched traffic lights.
also, I <3 the chemical bld. its a fun building to explore since all the stair wells and floors are open. my eye doctors office is there also. i wonder if he'll be displaced.

It appears they have their website up and running.....provides building layout information but no detailed floor plans yet(I'm sure they will update). This looks like one sweet project.

Wow, several 2000+ sq ft units, rare in projects downtown these days it seems. Can't wait to see progress pics.
The website mentions valet parking. I wonder if the condos in this development will include on site parking spaces?
I looked at their floor plans for the first time. Some great choices. This is going to be nice.

Yea, I'd like to know the range per square foot as well. And do most units have one or two baths?
