CATS recommends extending the Blue Line light rail, Gold Line streetcar, and using light rail as the preferred technology for the Silver Line. Additionally, they want improved bus frequency and service. They are also moving forward with the Red Line commuter train.

All of this is planned to be built in the next 30 years.

Charlotte has tons of transit plans that I'd recommend looking into. Super forward thinking and promising.

Their current plans:
-Red Line Commuter Train: 25 miles, $1.4 billion
-Silver Line Light Rail: 29 miles, $6.9 billion
-Blue Line LR Extension: 5.5 miles, $1.8 billion

Article regarding the impending transit vote in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

The 1% sales tax hike is projected to produce $19.4 billion across 30 years. 40% will go to roads, 20% buses, 40% to rail.

The measure is crucial for the planned Red and Silver Lines, along with any hope to extend the Blue and Gold lines. It also would go towards improving bus frequency on 15 bus lines to 15 minutes or less.

No chance it raises $19.4B

if stl county and city had a joint 1% sales tax for transit it would raise $12.4B over 30 years if taxable sales grew at a 2.5% rate a year and stl city and county a slightly bigger than Mechlenburg county.

Mecklenburg is growing substantially faster than STL City+County and I would bet that their income demographics are superior.

More of a reason of why Cara Spencer shutting down Metrolink expansion was idiot at best. Charlotte is still moving to make big plans in regards to transit. St. Louis not so much.
