I wish them well, but aren't they about 15 years too late? The Count wrote:New Cigar store & Lounge Charles P. Maybe they're trying to get ahead of the curve and be ready for the next time cigar smoking is a fad?The Central Scrutinizer wrote:I wish them well, but aren't they about 15 years too late? The Count wrote:New Cigar store & Lounge Charles P. Seems to be right on time....Smoking Ban...Coldest Weather of the Year...The lounge may be quite busy...
If the Afghan nites around our firepit here at COP Sayed Abad are any indication, cigars never went anywheres...

Will they be able to allow smoking after the first?vollum wrote:Seems to be right on time....Smoking Ban...Coldest Weather of the Year...The lounge may be quite busy...

If the owners didn't check into this beforehand, then I would suggest they qualify as the dumbest people on the planet.Little Sal wrote:Will they be able to allow smoking after the first?vollum wrote:Seems to be right on time....Smoking Ban...Coldest Weather of the Year...The lounge may be quite busy...
So the answer is, yes.
Cigar stores have an exemption.

^ My question was regarding the lounge. So will all lounges/bars sell cigars to get around the new law?

IANAL, but my guess is that the "lounge" will be counted as part of the store. Maybe it has something to do with is your main business selling cigars or serving liquor (bar)? I don't know, maybe someone else knows the technicalities.
Under construction at the southeast corner of 11th and Washington in the Merchandise Mart. Just talked to a construction worker. Sounds like somebody is angling to pick up all the smokers that can no longer go to the other places on Warshington.
i can tell you it's actually the "Charles P. Stanley Cigar Bar". this is really the only info i could find, which is pretty much just the name:

The place is ready to go. They're waiting for a license. Should be opening within the next couple of weeks.
Loves it!
I am greatly against the trampling of non-smokers rights by smokers in public places...A cigar bar is different in that it caters to tabacco users exclusively, right? I'm looking forward to this place when I get home...

"Open Soon" sign in windows and they were installing a neon sign on the corner at 11th this afternoon. Sign looks good AND Prime 1000 on the other side of the building has a hearing on an illuminated sign coming up as well. Two new illuminated signs on Washington ads some nice life.
Charles P. Stanley's Cigar Lounge will celebrate its Grand Opening this Thursday at 7 PM.

^ I did and it's actually a very nice space. They built it from scratch and did a very nice job. The number one requirement to enjoy this place though, is you HAVE to like cigars or at the least not be bothered by cigar smoke. It is a very comfortable space but you will smell like smoke when you leave.
Looks like the smoke has affected tenants of a couple apartments upstairs...

Ouch. Well I would think it is coming from the baseboards. We had a smoker living below us. Ripped up the baseboards, used some GE Silicon and it solved the problem. I wonder what the Merchandise Mart has tried to do?
Making my way back to the Stan after 17 days of R&R on a beach in Samoa...So I've been outta the loop...(Yes, the island nation of Samoa is way better than Afghanistan...)the count wrote:Charles P. Stanley's Cigar Lounge will celebrate its Grand Opening this Thursday at 7 PM.

But that sign rocks...I'm a wedding, childbirth, promotion, championship night cigar smoker so I can't wait to check it out...I hope they get any issues with upstairs residents worked out right...

Word on the street is that Stanely's has upgraded the ventilation system and worked it out with the family. That incident on the news proved to be a BOON to business. What's the cliche about publicity?

It is still very smoky in there! I don't mind smoke but when you can't see across the room. Not good....
