McCormick will not be around long. Space is on the market and has been for a while
I wouldn't be surprised to see Morton's close in Clayton with Capital Grille coming in and 801 Chophouse continuing to do very well. I'd expect them to relocate downtown and compete with only Ruth's Chris down there.
^ I think he meant kb forgot to mention Carmine's (and Al's) although those aren't national brands... iirc the Carmine's owner either recently upgraded the place or is planning to do so soon.
Al's is the best steakhouse in St. Louis. Tenderloin Room is second. The bar alone at Al's is worth going to check out. Most people on here will be amazed when they see it!

I think it's funny how so many restaurant chains think that clayton is the "it" spot. Rents are way too high for the traffic volumes. Police have "over policed" the bar/nightlife, I've never see it as dead as it is. 801 chop and fish have done well. Pastaria and niche seem to do well, along with Napoli, but north central seems to be dying if not dead. Wheelhouse will likely close in Clayton. Barcelona...I'm surprised it's still open.. I heard Herbies is moving to Clayton. Worst. Move. Ever. I think the average age of restaurant patrons in downtown Clayton is 70. Not even exaggerating. Clayton could be so much more than it is. Glad it sort of sucks though to keep neighborhoods like the CWE and grove and soulard, DT the go-to areas for 20/30 somethings. What's funny is that the powers that be in Clayton either don't care or have no idea how much Clayton has fallen over the last five years.
