As many of us know North St.Louis buildings are being torn down by construction companies in order to salvage the historic bricks. I never thought too much of it until I met a man who owned one the demolition companies that just so happened to be taking down buildings in North St.Louis for their bricks. Curious I asked him "What do you do with the bricks?" He said they use a small amount in new 'McMansion' construction in the burbs but a majority of them are shipped to CHINA! Tell me your thoughts on this.
I find that hard to believe. Its gotta be WAY cheaper to make bricks in China than to ship them there from here.
Brick is not reused to save money. It is more expensive than new brick in the States too. I would prefer that it be used here in STL but if it isn't, then I guess it is neat that St. Louis brick is being used abroad.

Does anyone know if this proposed bill to install stiffer penalties for brick rustling was passed?

The bricks used in St.Louis buildings are older and have that antique look to them. It is very hard to replicate them which is why they are being stolen.
