I've always wondered why the land where Compton dead ends and intersects with MLK was being cleared of old buildings. I thought it was for new homes, but I found this project instead. This could really go a long way towards enhancing the aesthetic appeal of lower MLK.

Blumeyer Elderly & General Occupancy Apartments

St. Louis, Missouri

In August 2004, S. M. Wilson & Co. was selected by McCormack Baron Salazar, Inc. to provide construction services for the Phase 2 Blumeyer Elderly & General Occupancy Apartments.

The 3.35 acre development bordered by Dr. Martin Luther King Dr., Thomas Street, Webster Avenue and Sheridan Avenue. The project will consist of two, three-story, wood frame buildings and will include 110 residential units designated for the elderly and 30 units for general occupancy. The project will also include numerous site improvements including paved parking lots and driveways, fencing and decorative pole lighting.

Cost: $11,100,000

Architect: Kennedy Associates, Inc.

Construction Time: October 2004 through September 2005
