Generally I agree with you, but get <i>what</i> built? Those renderings are just speculation on the developer's part. The power plants and trolley are "what if" scenarios. The 10,000 houses only get built if other developers do that. We have the starting point to a dialogue and the developer thinks it's the end point.
We should be reading the redevelopment ordinance carefully, asking where TIF dollars will go, asking what private banks will take a risk on the project, etc. So much is unknown.
Everyone would be happy if the Civitas urban fantasy came true. There won't be any argument about that "vision." However, McEagle is not asking the city to approve that vision but for public subsidy and redevelopment powers. I think we can all move past the vision, acknowledge how great it is that McEagle embraced a very urban vision, and get down to brass tacks on the specifics of what power the developer gets and how.
