Does Busch Stadium have bike racks for fans who might bike to the game? The Busch Stadium A-Z guide on their website doesn't mention bikes and a search of the whole site only turns up one result about winning a bike. :( Has anyone seen bike racks at Busch? :?:

I attended a Twins game and hundreds of people rode their bike to the game. Found these photos online:

They have them, and I've used them. Not in the best locations, but they do exist. I know for sure there's one on the east side of the stadium. I think there's at least one more but I can't recall where.

There are bike racks outside the South entrance under the interstate and on the East side of the stadium. However they do not hold many bikes and we need many more. If more people biked to the game they may meet the request and install more racks.

This was the response I received from the Cardinals: "Our bike racks are located on the south end of the stadium, near gate 2. They are specifically located in Lot A."

Well that street view is disappointing. If they covered that entire sidewalk with racks, they might be noticed by fans from the near southside, and they would probably be filled.

Why have bike racks when parking is everywhere and cheap?

I live on the near southside (soulard) and ride my bike downtown quite a bit

I've only used the bike rack at Busch once though--when I went to the All Star Parade in 2009

When I go to baseball or hockey games I just take one of the bar shuttles.

I live in the Twin Cities and I can tell you that the percentage of people biking (commuting) is substantially greater than other cities in the country. It does not surprise me that numerous bike parking spots are at the Twins stadium because bike parking is everywhere: grocery stores, small businesses, schools, etc. Equally numerous are bike lanes, and by that I don't just mean signs cautioning about bikers on the road, I'm talking about paved bike lanes, and major bike thoroughfares/greenways with on/off ramps for bikers.

I could see why people would want bike parking spots at Busch Stadium but if the critical infrastructure isn't there, then there really isn't any purpose to add them.

Remind me where the bike racks are at Busch. East side by Tums parking lot?

There are four racks on the 8th Street side beneath the 40 viaduct near the service/employee entrance. Short walk from the Musial gate.

There are nine individual “posts” that are for bikes on Clark in front of the Lowe’s hotel at BPV. They have bicycle silhouettes cut out of them.

From google streetview, all three of these locations are an option. The rack on the east side is just SW of Broadway and Spruce. The Loews Hotel racks are on the north side of  Clark about 60' east of 8th St. The highway 40 racks are just as sc4 described.

Straying slightly off topic, but the fact that there are no bike racks for Ballpark Village is suboptimal. The whole place is just built as if they had no idea there'd be pedestrians or cyclists.

Before and after Cardinals games, most north/southbound pedestrians are ducking under the parking gates rather than using the (bad) sidewalk entrance that drops you into the BPV parking lot.

On top of all that, BPV seems to think it's not their problem to clear snow off the sidewalk on the south side of Walnut (next to their parking lots). Even the parking lots are overly large and suburban-y. People make their own spots at the end of the aisles because the lots are built with overly large driving lanes to make suburbanites feel comfortable.

The next phase hopefully includes some pedestrian accommodations.

As for Busch, a setup like at Wrigley Field would be awesome. They have a free valet where they can also store your luggage. I'm constantly perturbed when traveling by the fact that we have no luggage storage anywhere. (I know, you can maybe sweet talk a hotel into holding a non-guest's bag). Have a long Houston layover later this summer, and the biggest problem with going to an Astros game is my bags.

This whole thread could probably be merged into the BPV thread, tbh.  To be fair to BPV there are 9 "racks" along Clark on the BPV side.  5 of them are just steps from the STL statue.  The other four are in front of the hotel.  I'd say you could comfortably get 18 bikes racked up there...though I've never seen one.

The lack of full sidewalks between Walnut and Cardinal Way at the 6th and 7th street entrances is frustrating (and yes, will be rectified in future phases as the temporary lots fill in) but to say the whole place was designed as if there'd be no pedestrians is a little much.  As someone who primarily rides MetroLink to games I find the overall development to be very accessible and walkable.

Airports should have luggage checks for those with long layovers that want to leave the premises.  I don't know why you'd want to lug your belongings all the way into a city for a day trip anyway.
