I really like this. It's also a project that I think as worthy of tax-abatement.

^ I agree and it certainly is in an area that can use some help... the future of this city ultimately is going to hinge on the health of neighborhoods like Bevo and Baden and not the Central West End and Forest Park SE.

Man, this looks fantastic. I like that the modern addition will eat up some of that massive parking lot. Great design, I'm looking forward to this one.

Hopefully, this redo is one that solidifies this STL landmark for decades to come. I hope to see this place rise, as a hot spot, maybe breathing some new life into an area that could use a boost right now. It was 10 or so years ago, that the area really got a boost from some new bars and restaurants. Maybe Bevo can gain some momentum. Hopefully, the "Little Bevo" across the street, can find life. (Assuming it hasn't already)

And it pleases me greatly to see local folks involved in the project and not a large out-of-town conglomerate. When it was a local conglomerate, that was one thing, but . . . The Bavarians already have their own beer halls. They don't need our local knock-off too. ;-)

Hey, is this thing on? Long hiatus from the forum and hoping to get back in on a regular basis.

My family considered Das Bevo for Mother's Day but they weren't taking reservations yet and with a couple of young kids on the scene we decided on something a little more predictable.

Anyone been inside yet? I'm encouraged by the website's mission and vision for the space.

I went a couple of weeks ago - it was great. They did a really nice job on the renovation, and the indoor and outdoor spaces were both full. They haven't started on the biergarten yet, but there is a patio on the Gravois side of the building.

Small menu but food was good. Good beer selection and strong cocktails. Was told 1.25 hour wait yesterday at but it only took 35min.

It's been good seeing the fan spinning. I'll take that as a recommendation. :)

Ian Froeb Das Bevo Review: http://www.stltoday.com/entertainment/d ... 0f089.html
I've been a few times now and the service has been really bad and the food was just so-so. I really had big hopes for this place but now I am left wondering if the wrong group ended up with the restaurant. The Eleven Eleven group didn't get it because they wanted city money. However, the Majorette group has since gone back to the city and asked for money after winning the bid and has scaled back their plans for it.

Are they still planning the outdoor beer garden that was in the renderings?

It doesn't seem so because they went ahead with just a patio in the back where it was supposed to go. Not saying they can't still do it but they put patio furniture and fire pits where it was supposed to go.
