^The moon makes sense. There's also starbursts at 2.5 and 8.5. Figured the polar projection went without saying. It's glorious. It's not really "as viewed" since you can see the entire Southern Hemisphere. You'll note that Antarctica is depicted as a circle of land around the edge of the map. South America, and Australia are both visible. Africa is kind of an amorphous mass and nigh on half of it is lost to framing. But at least parts of all the major features are visible, if impressionistically. Anyway . . . yeah, it's fantastic. We are truly blessed with some fantastic art about this town. And we need to fight to make sure we don't lose it.

^ right. it's not "as viewed." it's a projection. probably azimuthal equidistant. see image below.
