Awesome news with Lewis Reed tweeting that per the Planning Commission a Bailey's restaurant will be coming to the old Commerce space on S. Grand.... I've always thought that space would be perfect for a restaurant and should have some great outdoor space. In the hands of Bailey, it should turn out to be awesome.

Also, occupying that spot is important because it is a rather dead zone with a good deal of street wall demo. Its great to see S. Grand retaining its cache while other nabes are sprouting up as entertainment destinations.

Fantastic! That building does occupy a pretty crucial spot on that side of the street between parking lots.

I'm excited to hear what the concept for this restaurant will be- anyone have any insight?

Given the style of the building, I can see a "Mad Men" Mid-Century themed place, steaks, shrimp cocktail, strong drinks etc...

Note - This building has been vacant for about 17 years - SG is healthy and getting healthier

Nice! Is this the vegetarian / whiskey bar concept?

^ I think that may be different. Short article in P-D said that he didn't know what the concept would be yet for this spot but that if all works out as planned he'll own the building.
