Pretty cool, pretty creepy. Hard to believe that is in the middle of a metro area of 3 million people. Easy to get hurt in a place like that, so that makes me appreciate your efforts even more.
the sanctity of zero-tolerance private property law-enforcement aside, our local history is damn interesting, I can understand, if not condone, it's exploration. one could argue documenting and exploring of such areas exposes the potential of it to many who would otherwise never see it, increasing the chance of it being redeveloped.
off topic: if i don't "step foot" on the property its ok? does chariot just need some hoverboots? is microsoft trespassing:?
i am trespassing, i know this, but i dont really care. ive been kicked out of places, most cops just tell you to leave and follow you out. i explain myself and am very polite, and i get the usual "not safe" blah blah blah. its all good, i understand how dangerous it is sometimes and i realize the possibility of us getting hurt. the experience i get from going to these places is very real for me and i enjoy it very much.
anyway, i would definitely bring a hardhat to this place, its collapsing into itself. the office and stuff felt the most dangerous to get to, the floors would bow beneath our feet, etc. i have a better place to go to next week.
bevobill-sorry you didnt like the pictures you took the time to look at. i dont do it to be artsy and cliche, i do it for me and share the experience.
No offense intended by the comment; Feedback is what makes forums interesting, no?
Anyway, I think I just meant to say that, yeah, that is a cool 'experience', but looking at pictures of it just doesn't compare, right? I've just seen lots of similar pics of all the closed factories and hospitals you can name in the St. Louis metro. We get it; they're old, they have historical significance, they should be maintained/modified, etc etc etc- the bonus excitement comes from going in some place you know you're not supposed to be.
Ok, maybe not cliche, but- i don't know.
Regardless, have fun out there.
As for the trespassing issue, I'll guess I'll spare you my old fashioned ideas of not breaking the law.
^ You've probably never rolled through a stop, or pulled a U turn when you weren't supposed to. Matter of fact, you've probably never cut through a gas station to avoid a stop light.......
Interesting article in the April issue of St. Louis Magazine about Cindy Tower. She's an artist who paints interior views of abandoned factories. There's lots of photos of the Armour plant, and lots of descriptions of the history, as well as the current state of the facility and the surrounding neighborhood. They also talk about how she goes about her work in there, the "bodyguard" that goes with her, etc. Good stuff.
