At least half of my UMSL Info Sys graduating class is no longer in the region because they couldn't find jobs, or got significantly better offers elsewhere. My own group had a software product ready to roll, partners established for marketing, and a C corp ready to be formed, but our coders couldn't rely on the St. Louis job market if things went south. Sounds to me more like a compensation mismatch than an actual shortage.
