After 25 years of screwing STL with no local news on its ABC affliate KDNL30, conservative, secular corporate entity Sinclair is losing ABC affiliate! Yahoo!
As of September 1st, ABC will move all programming off of KDNL30 and put it on Channel 32 run by KMOV and Gray Media.

ABC is switching affiliations in the St. Louis market, with plans to move from the Sinclair-owned outlet to Gray Media, sources familiar with the plans confirmed on Thursday.
The change will take place on Sept. 1. Gray will provide locally produced news at its station, KMOV-TV, with ABC programming broadcasting on the outlet’s D2 digital channel.
KDNL-TV has been an ABC affiliate since 1995. Its ABC affiliation expires at the end of August, but network programming will air on the station until then.
KDNL was the only ABC affiliate in a top 20 major Designated Market Area (DMA) to not air local news content, with the station having a minimal presence in St. Louis. ABC has been the lowest rated national network in the market.
Sinclair Broadcast Group is a massive U.S. media conglomerate widely scrutinized for conservative media bias, corporate must-run commentary, and alignment with right-wing or MAGA political strategies. Sinclair pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! from their local ABC affiliate stations in September 2025. The blackout happened after Kimmel made on-air comments regarding the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Such affiliation switches are not all that uncommon. Last year, the network switched from Berkshire Hathaway’s WPLG-TV in Miami to a subchannel of Sunbeam’s WSVN-TV in that market.
JD Sosnoff, president and general manager of WMOV, said in a statement on the station website, “By bringing ABC programming to KMOV, we are not only expanding entertainment options but, more importantly, delivering vital local news and public service to a community that has been underserved in this area.
