These types of redevelopments will be crucial to stabilizing the Northside. I can't wait to see what type of development happens when light rail is running down Natural Bridge.
It's a shame to see that brick warehouse building go, could have been a valuable addition to the streetscape. Beggers can't be choosers in this context though, this will be a fantastic project. Great to have another grocery option besides Save A Lot in the area.
Say what you will about Field's pricing, but they are putting their money where their mouth is in STL. I wish them the best of luck.
Edit: 1:1 parking mandate for senior housing seems... excessive. How many of these people will actually still be driving themselves? Maybe I am just out of touch with the senior care scene
I hope we keep seeing developments like this on the north side.
I'm definitely rooting for the Ville and Greater Ville area, which is kind of like St. Louis' Harlem and which doesn't get nearly enough respect or attention.
The neighborhoods stand a chance with MetroLink coming to them in the future.
I'd love to see some of the black history of the area memorialized in some way. Perhaps the old Chuck Berry house could become a museum.
This project is back and is being bid w/o Fields Foods component. (approx. 1 mile from the terminus station of the green line at Grand and Natural Bridge).
