While looking through Park Central Development's agenda for tomorrow regarding the 4100 block rehab/bank conversion, I noticed this second agenda item:

to demolish 4490- 4494 Lindell.
This is the Optimist International building at the south-east corner of Lindell and Taylor.
This the first I have heard of any proposals for this corner. The meeting packet online does not include this agenda item which is a little worrisome. And Park Centrals Dev's meeting tomorrow is at the highly convenient time of 12pm.

Anyone else heard about this? able to attend the meeting and report back?

Wow, that's one of my favorite buildings in the city. I hope it's not a serious proposal.

oh, good. hopefully the archdiocese is proposing another football-field-sized corner parking lot to match the one across the street.

^ Looking forward to hearing about that meeting stlgasm. I hope its a real development. Yhe CWE is changing so fast! I'd like to see more parking lots converted rather than building demolitions though... especially that cathedral lot and the lot owned by Kindred. I think the lindell schnucks site will probably be home to a pretty gigantic development one day.

No demolition or building permit activity on the city's website, but the property is listed for sale for $3,443,275.

Alex over at NextSTL is hinting at a residential high rise proposal. No details available yet.

If the architect's last name is Calatrava or Hadid, then I'm all for it. But if it's not awesome, then I would rather show them what a beautiful site we have a block west in the Kindred Hospital parking lot (SW corner of Euclid & Lindell).

We've lost a lot of midcentury modern. Any further demolitions should be justified by a transformative project with in-place financing and a building permit before demo proceeds.

That site is not available. Kindred has a ten year lease and Ventas, the owner isn't looking to sell it. So, perhaps ten years from now it will be redeveloped. I certainly hope so. I also hope the archdiocese reconsiders and allows San Luis to be developed..

It would be pretty crazy if within the next 5-10 years Lindell gets infill towers here and with the OPUS site and maybe one or two others and the Kindred lot and the SW corner of Kingshighway are still undeveloped.

If a developer had interest in a significant project, I would support the use of imminent domain on existing parking lots.

parking lots and fallow parcels should be taxed at a significantly higher rate than developed ones. other places do this (Pittsburgh for example) to curtail speculation.

What are the chances of something like that passing here
