The remediation is complete and the site is ready to be redeveloped. It is a large and attractive redeveopment opportunity in the heart of Shaw.

CDA is looking for the following:
The redevelopment goals for the RFP include:
1. Reinstate the building with a viable commercial or mixed use. The building needs to be reinstated as a positive contribution to the neighborhood and the City. The City will consider a wide range of viable commercial and mixed uses that accomplish this goal.
2. Contribute to the commercial activity in the Shaw Neighborhood. The Site is located in a largely residential area that includes small clusters of neighborhood-oriented retail and services. Redevelopment of the Site should support commercial activity by contributing to market demand and/or by providing complementary goods and services and/or employment opportunities for the area.

It is critically important any respondants to the RFP have the financial ability to complete the proposed project.

But only "maybe."

Yes, there was some concern from neighbors in close proximity to the site. However, there was a lot of support as well. Ultimately, the developer did not have the funds to complete the project and additional remediation was needed to remove the hydraulic jacks.

The site is clean and ready to go.

I don't know how to add a photo but today I was driving around the shaw neighberhood. There was a sign up about coming development on this site I believe (it was at Thurman and Russell) couldn't find any info anywhere I looked. Anyone know anything about this project? Or is there a thread already about this I missed?

Just saw that they put up what looks like a construction fence around this property. Are they finally moving with this project?

They are. I believe they were held up for a while trying to purchase the smaller red building to the east. The seller of that building wanted way too much for it, so they finally decided to move on. They are supposedly going to build a retail component on the corner of the lot now. Not sure of the design though.

Great to see some projects happening in Shaw outside of residential. That property has been sitting too on what may be the ugliest intersection in Shaw. Hopefully the property across Russell is not far behind as it is in similar shape.
