Just went last night to Rosalita's.

AMAZING! Decor was top notch (for a mexican place) and most importantly... the food was AWESOME. Finally a Mexican place I can eat at!

Went to Rosalitas yesterday for lunch. Nice place. Food was not good except for the chips and salsa. Chili con queso was like thin melted velveeta mixed with milk. Zero heat. Nachos were completely uninspired and had a glob of rapidly oxidizing (browning) guacamole on top. Shrug. I'll give them another shot, but was not impressed.

Is the Jive and Wail open? Last I saw they were still doing work on the space.

I thought the food at Rosalitas was good. Great atmosphere and great space.

Also thought the food was mediocre when I visited. For the record, this is Tex-Mex, not Mexican. I'll have to try their fish tacos next visit and make my final determination after that. :)

The decor is really nice however. Great space and lots to look at.

Their tortilla soup is awesome. Some of the best I've ever had north or south of the border. Other things I've sampled have just been OK.

Rosalitas Cantina is opening a second location at Manchester and I-270 in Des Peres, at the old Casa Gallardo site.

As near as I can determine, all work has stopped on Rosalita's Restaurant at I-270 and Manchester. It is now just parts of the old Casa Gallardo and a big hole in the ground to the North. Anyone know what the problem is?

I have no idea why they want to open a location out there anyway.

Work resumed several months ago at a new Rosalita's in Des Peres where the old Casa Gallardo used to be at I-170 and Manchester. Here are some pictures I took today. Looks like it should open in time for Cinco de Mayo.

I am relieved to see that they are using "the most believable architectural stone veneer in the world". I guess. The cheap alternative would have been to use "the most believable architectural stone veneer among viewers of Fox News," or, "the second most believable architectural stone veneer in Dittmer."
