The problem is not a lack of parking. It's a mix between feeling entitled to park right in front of the place you're visiting and being down right lazy.

I've never had any problem parking in either location. But I'm also not afraid to park in the first spot I find and walk a few blocks if necessary.

Can someone answer this question for me

How can a building owner be allowed to let their building deteriorate to the point of demolition?

A few years ago I had chipping paint on my porch and I got a letter from the city saying I better fix it or I'd be in trouble.

Is it a case of lack of enforcement or something more?

I just have no idea how I have to paint my porch or be fined/taken to court where someone else can just let their property fall apart. Doesn't seem fair or make much sense.

^ they can enforce codes such as that, but the fines are a couple hundred dollars - no one's going to care too much about that

^ iirc, Saint Louis voters rejected an increase in permissible fines a few years ago.

Any way this could be declared a "problem propery" and the ownership fined and/or compelled to sell before demo?

Would be awesome if he could build new on the vacant lot to the east and combine the 2.

I would rather him demo the old building as well if he were to build new on the lot.

^ thanks much. I haven't been down that stretch of Olive in awhile; I wonder if it is completely vacant.

Contractors were inside the building today looking at what it will take to rehab. Likely looking at apartments/condos with first floor retail.
