I registered, but for some reason can't see site plans like this. I can only see info like inspection reports, the names and contacts of consulting engineers, etc.

You're welcome! It's definitely a treasure trove of information about any development in St. Louis City and County. Thanks! It's great to know about this.

A construction permit also has been issued for the new restaurant portion of the Aloft Hotel project.
Maryville University is planting a stake in the ground at Cortex:
https://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/new ... ortex.htmlAnother local university has established a presence in the Cortex innovation district.
Maryville University has opened a new technology center at Cortex’s 4220 building. The facility, which is Maryville’s first academic center at Cortex, is called the Fusion Center and will be used by the college’s cybersecurity and management information systems programs. The Cortex facility will be an extension of Maryville’s Cyber Fusion Center at its Town & County campus. That facility, according to the university, has offered free cybersecurity services to more than 150 companies and organizations. Maryville plans to offer the same services at no charge to startups in the Cortex district. “We want to integrate ourselves into that community, (and) not just that we’re another company there. But that we are part of their support system there,” said Stacy Hollins, assistant dean of Maryville’s Simon School of Business and associate professor of information systems. Maryville has launched at Cortex through funding from a $435,000 grant from the PNC Foundation. The university’s expansion comes as it seeks to be a “convener” on the topic of technology talent in St. Louis, Hollins said. As part of its facility at Cortex, Maryville plans to release an annual report that examines St. Louis’ cybersecurity and technology needs.
As Maryville builds out the priorities and programming for its new Fusion Center, Hollins said the university will take a nimble approach, similar to other startups that call Cortex home. “It’s not a prescriptive programming plan that we have for this space. We want to be agile. We want to be responsible to whatever the need is,” she said. Maryville University is the latest local university to set up shop in Cortex. Saint Louis University and Washington University in 2019 bolstered their footprint in Cortex with the opening of the COLLAB, a joint venture innovation center.

For what it's worth, this has been out there for a month or so. viewtopic.php?p=314992#p314992 Glad to see more details being released though!
^ Ha! I actually went looking back through to page 70 because I had sworn I saw that news here, guess I didn't go back far enough.
Cortex report touts $40 million in net new taxes, $700 million in investment
https://www.stltoday.com/business/local ... a3dcc.html
Meanwhile, other projects are on the horizon. Washington University is considering a $300 million neuroscience building just west of the Crescent building redevelopment that opened last year and now houses BioSTL. And Cortex is in discussions with a developer planning a 261-unit residential building. And a 129-room Aloft hotel on Duncan Avenue is expected to open this spring.

The Stl today article was hard to wrap my head around.
Are they saying the city gave up like $110 million so far in tax incentive to attract $700 million in investment but only got $8 million in taxes back over 4 years?
( schools got 7 million and rest of the 40 million went to state? )
Earnings tax and sales taxes not mentioned. Are they eaten up by TIF as well?
Head spinning

The $8 million cannot possibly include the 1% earnings tax, can it? There are now thousands of employees working within the Cortex space. Many were previously in the county or are new jobs.

Let's not forget the 1/2 of 1% payroll tax that all employers pay in the City.

The earnings tax is very perplexing to me. Seems to be relatively straightforward when I look at my paycheck but apparently many others don't "pay" 1%.

I work in the county and my firm doesn't take out the E tax so i have to file with the City each year....newstl2020 wrote: ↑Feb 07, 2020The earnings tax is very perplexing to me. Seems to be relatively straightforward when I look at my paycheck but apparently many others don't "pay" 1%.

^ Same for me in KC. My employer is in Johnson County, but I still have to file separately with the city. It does suck lol.

I didn’t realize it wasn’t taken out until like mid December of this year after working there for 11 months. Never had to file before so I still need to call someone at Rev collector office and see how it’s done
^There's a simple form on the Collector of Revenue site that you fill out and send in. Hasn't taken more than a few minutes to fill out when I have worked both in and out of the City in years past.
2nd this. It is super easy from when I used to do it. I think the form is one sided.MattnSTL wrote: ↑Feb 10, 2020^There's a simple form on the Collector of Revenue site that you fill out and send in.
