Great. Another list.

Where is that picture anyway (as in what part of STL)?

Is this serious? I thought we weren't in nearly the "bubble" of a lot of other cities and prices hadn't really dropped here as much as the coasts and the former "hot" markets. Forbes doesn't seem to like us here all that much.

Those Forbes are usually fairly meaningless anyway.

Poor Detroit.

That's on Russell in Fox Park, on the north side of the street between Oregon and California. To my knowledge, those new homes have not yet sold after more than a year on the market.

Try this link from MSN Maps. It gives a Birds Eye View. It does appear to be the picture from Forbes

This is absurd. We weren't at all on the spotlight for major cities hit, and known actually for a pretty stable housing market compared to many other cities.

BS.

These are the ones on Russell

2803 Russell

2809 Russell

However most of those signs seem to be pointing south down California Ave.

Why do they still make these lists? They're so meaningless.

And to CS, logically, the fact that there are two authoritative voices - one saying it's risky, and the other putting on stl on their top lists of markets to invest, the fact that there is conflicting data alone, communicates that these lists are bogus.

In terms of belittling me, and saying that i claim to be an "expert" -- I bet I get paid more than you anyway (and still 30 years younger than you...sad isn't it), and probably have a better education than you, and been to 5 continents and 20+ countries, speak 4 languages, and worked on projects that have been seen around the world.... so I probably have more clout than you to make any comment on this board. You're just a bitter dick who probably lives in south city working as some lame as an IT pimply prick employee who has never had any authority in life or job so you try to take out your social retardation out on this board.

So if you want to challenge me or my intel and the way i think of things, bring it on b****. The problem is people like me make differences in this world, and people like you sit in your basement jacking of to gay porn and drinking miller beer. I don't know who you are, I could be totaly wrong, so im judging you based on your posts. And based on your posts, you offer NOTHING to this board or city. I'm completely suprised why you aren't banned from the board...and city. Get a life, freak.

We're also one of the top sellers' markets, according to one of the other financial porn rags.

I've fallen into the same trap too many times.

I wish the mods would have picked a forum engine that allows you to set certain members to "ignore". That way their troll comments are hidden.

Does this actually conflict with the Forbes data? Quite honestly, the fact that the "Ug Buys Ugly Homes" people ranked us fifth in the nation for home investing worries me even further. It would only insinuate that we have a plethora of once ugly homes to purchase; "Ugly" being synonymous with "HUD" in this instance, more likely than not. Furthermore, pho, you should know that the Home Vestors data set would merely be a subset of total homes sold in the STL area - which is absolutely experiencing price declines. I would venture to say the Forbes data would be more accurate. This is not a bad thing as it will lead to a quicker recovery

Slay's office merely posted that stat to quell fears, or the reality, of a housing market downturn (probably)

Also, the cheap shots on the forum are getting a little trite. This is a place for educated folks to try and use big words while talking about their love of all things Lou, not sound like a bunch of e-nerds having it out over the internet. And, Miller is not nearly as bad as Coors, by the by.

Eh. Who cares. This is just one list among many. Given St. Louis' comparatively strong showing on other lists (such as the one cited by Deb), I would not make too much of it. The worst thing you can say is that it is bad national publicity for the City and Region.

As for CS, don't let him get you all worked up. Just challenge him with facts.

BTW CS, I am still waiting on that map of City-owned properties downtown.

why does it matter if CS jerks off to gay porn or straight porn? is it bad to be gay? that's so wierd because it's never caused me any problems other than dealing with condescending statements that imply that being gay is somehow inferior.

ok sorry for the tangent. proceed.
