Sounds like an interesting event this Saturday afternoon at White Flag Projects (4568 Manchester at Kingshighway).
"ORIENT EXPRESS. This Saturday afternoon, March 8, 2-4pm, with Amsterdam based Artist-in-residence Eric Von Robertson.
Eric wants to have a little back-and-forth at the gallery. He'll talk a bit about his work, but mostly he'll be wanting to converse about hidden parts of St. Louis that you might know something about.
Orient Express is an orientation and lounge event in which Von Robertson continues to expand his ongoing organization and process C.A.R.L (the Center for the Advancement of Recreation and Leisure). He will introduce several works that span urban peripheries in search of new models for tourism and recreational prototypes. As part of his 2-week residency at White Flag Projects, Robertson is looking for local city-guides that will point in the direction of lost caves and other hidden landmarks in St. Louis...
Along the way, CARL celebrates and provides organization to the off-kilter, unseemly, and dubious...
Although Robertson's initial research for this exhibition has centered on St. Louis' underground caves and car thefts, his work will emerge directly from his experience as a stranger in St. Louis. Robertson will develop a series of public excursions during his residency and also welcome the public to hang out in a temporary lounge at White Flag."
