Tax credits fund 300 new housing units in north St. Louis

NORTH ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Alderman April Ford-Griffin (D-5th Ward) recently announced that the Missouri Housing Development Commission has awarded $1.3 million in affordable housing credits to projects occuring in her ward.



The Cochran Gardens Redevelopment Corporation received $700,000 and Pyramid Construction, Inc. received $600,000. Both projects combined are said to produce over 300 new units of affordable family and elderly housing in north St. Louis.

This is great news for the northside and for those of us with an interest in Old North St. Louis. Now we just need to defeat the I-70 bridge construction project so we can keep our area intact and connected to downtown.

I don't quite understand the reason to not put the I-70 bridge there, but to each his own. Good news for north st. Louis though.

A lot of good things are going to happen for N. STL. I can feel it. You have the I-70 fix up, the metrolink being planned, quite a few rehabilitation projects, the new Mississippi River bridge, and even the idea that downtown is growing so fast on its north side. I hope these plans stay on track, and I hope the future is bright for the North Side. Hopefully East St Louis can come together as well.
