Great news! According to social media, this awesome house at Cook and Whittier has ben sold, and the new buyers are planning a renovation. They hope to start in July, and will create a blog to share progress.

That's the best news I have heard in a long time! Though it makes me just a bit sad that I won't get to renovate it myself. Not that it would have stayed standing long enough for me to find that kind of money.

From the realtor's Facebook post:

"...cleaning the yard and cutting the vines growing on the house happened yesterday. 10 neighbors came out to cheer the beginning of the rehab!"

Awesome! I have been intrigued by this one since the first time I saw it 20 years ago

Looks to be in pretty rough shape today, I guess the rehab fell through.

Yeah, they had a port-a-potty on site for a while, but that's as far as it went. I recall seeing some discussion about it on Facebook, but I wouldn't have any idea of how to find it at this point.

Came across this really cool and also really depressing shot of some long gone homes at Cook and Whittier.  Originally part of Fout Place, the corner home on the opposite side of Whittier is all that remains:

The colorization is done by Mark Loehrer...he's got some really cool stuff if you're not familiar.

Nice find. Looks more East Coast than I would have thought for STL.
