^ It is a tough issue with few good answers. Demo can be an appropriate tool but shouldn't be the "go to" tool. As discussed in some of the other threads, ideally we'd have greater ability to intervene on problem properties earlier and before the structures get out of hand.

This thread is sort of Limbaugh-esque in its analysis of cause and effect.

"St. Louis has a crime problem; St.Louis is governed by Democrats; therefore, Democratic government either a) can't deal with crime, or, b) causes crime."

"10,000 demos in 14 years in St Louis; St. Louis has high crime; demolishing derelict buildings doesn't solve crime problems."

We need to have a little better dialogue on these sorts of things.
