It was reported in the St. Louis Business Journal today that the five-story

Greeley Building (c. 1880) is under contract, with plans on converting the

building into condos.

Cool. I would like to see the Landing become more of a residential area.

That is a drop-dead gorgeous building. This is another positive move for the Landing.

Thanks for posting the link to the Laclede's Landing Walking Tour. Its nice to be able to see all of the buildings on one page.

It looks like the Landing may finally get some of those long-promised residential units. There's a real flurry of proposals coming these days. It'll be interesting to see which of these new developments actually get built.

Here is the article:

An Arkansas investor has the historic Greeley Building on Laclede's Landing under contract and plans to convert it into high-end condos.

Dollar Group LLC, led by Sam Bailey of Cotter, Ark., put the five-story building at 618 N. Second St. under contract for an undisclosed amount in mid-March. Bailey did not return calls for comment. Hal Hanstein of Cardinal Realty Group represented Dollar Group in the deal.

So according to the article, the Greeley, Cutlery, Switzer and possibly the Hoffman Bros. Produce buildings will all be converted to lofts. This, along with the Port St. Louis development is great news!

I think the two most glaring holes in the landing are the huge lots next to the Witte Bros. building (on Second Street) and at First and Morgan. The First and Morgan, in particular, would be a great spot for new construction.
