MO took ownership of the full 144 mile path last week!  Jackson County (KC) has already completed 18 miles of bike path.  Excited to see a "twin" to the Katy trail.  I've talked to several transplants that think if people knew more about these cycling assets, the Missouri streams/ rivers and hiking throughout SE MO people would think differently about STL region from a healthy lifestyle / quality of life aspect.

100% agree with this. ⬆️ Missouri’s marketing strategy should shift to promote outdoor/exercise/ healthy living assets we have!!

Windsor, the biking cross-roads of Missouri! This is a huge achievement and big win for the state. Hopefully, once the Labadie plant closes (currently scheduled for 2042), Ameren will be willing to part with more of the right-of-way, bringing it further eastward into the metro area.

^I used to daydream about making portions of that line a tourist railroad. It's easily one of the most scenic rights of way in the state. It'll be a lovely addition.

I spent my teens growing up in one of the former rail towns along the Rock Island line, and very much look forward to this trail gradually becoming a reality.

Back in those days, when I was younger (and slightly dumber), I rather stupidly walked (and crawled) across the 1,800 foot, pièce de résistance rail bridge over the Gasconade River in Osage County. I look forward to the day that I might be able to do that again, especially without the missing rail ties and the addition of barrier fencing (oh, and the decreased likelihood of having two farmers greet me back at my vehicle with shotguns in hand...which actually happened). Adrenaline-filled day to say the least!
