If you've ever seen a semi driving on I-55 in the St. Louis area or all the way up towards the Springfield, IL that has an A-frame type tarp covering it's load... it's most likely glass going to or from the PPG Mt. Zion Plant. The plant was built in 1959 and has two production lines, one of which was shuttered a few years ago. With the buyout by Fuyao, the second line with be refurbished with both lines focusing on automotive glass. The additional jobs, plus investment in the facility is a huge win for the Decatur area, which has seen a plethora of manufacturing jobs leave over the past decade.
