The Riverview Transit Center has been completed and is in operation. The indoor waiting room, public restrooms and quick shop vendor is in operation at Riverview and Hall. The public grand opening is on December 20th at 10:00 am.
The Central West End Transit Center, built by Wash U and BJC, for Metro in return for air rights, an easement, and the shift of bus service off Euclid to permit the creation of a pedestrian zone eventually was completed in June 2006. This is the busiest transit center on the system.
The Eads bridge lighting...I am not sure of the status on that.
I hope that the EADS get lit up again. I remember it being very striking with lights back in the day. The reflection of the lights on the water made for a great view of the bridge.

Some of us were discussing that in another thread on this forum a few days ago. It seems like a no-brainer to illuminate one of our most striking architectural assets. Hopefully this will go through because it would look great!

Please tell me the city isn't turning Euclid over to BJC all the way between FPP and 40. I still can't believe the let them put in that goofy walkway between Childrens Place and FPP.
The plan, as far as I know, is for a pedestrian zone from Barnes Plaza Drive to Children's Place. It could not cover Euclid from Barnes Plaza Drive to Clayton.
To accomplish this, it will require a truck accesss road parallel to the Metrolink tracks from Taylor, under Euclid to the hospital loading docks east of Euclid. I don't know the timing of this however.
Once the roadway is done, the hospital will have removed most of the traffic on Euclid in this section other than private auto traffic.
It would be necessary for the hospital and university to request permission from the city to convert this into a pedestrian zone. I am sure they will retain the capability of having automobiles enter this area for various reasons, but it would look like the current pedestrian zone just north of Children's place. This is pretty nice today. I walk though this area and its nice to not have to worry about being run over.
Does anyone have any pics of the illuminated Eads? Google images yielded nothing, but I remember that it used to be a popular postcard shot when it was lit up.
I wish it could be lit up again, too. But I thought the reason they pulled the plug on the lights was because riverboat captains were complaining about the lights interfering with visual navigation or something like that...(?)
Not that I claim to know anything, but a possible reason for the Army Corps to ban lights in that area is because of a turn in the river. One of the reasons the new MRB could have only one support in the water within 1000' of the shore was because of navigation.
