Is Main Street Bistro Zoo the place that used to be On Broadway Bistro?

And where exactly is Gregg's. I've always wanted to give that place a try.

Lot of wrecker's bars up here (gotta be 35, 45, whatever keeps the young stuff out). I liked Fleetwood's on StL Ave at Florissant, which is now The Avenue with a new whitewash paint job, haven't been yet. I'm a wrecker meself, of course, a little slower on the new bar visitation schedule.

CW Lounge (around Nat.Bridge/Palm and maybe 23rd) is a homey bar-bar. They do a mean old southern style breakfast with eggs, meats, non-vegetarian smothered potatoes, biscuits, grits and huge pancakes with karo syrup. $2.15 French toast is my fave. Beer if you want it. Goes on all day on Saturday but turns into dinner food at some point. Until 12 on Sunday.

The floor is a bright cheery red and there's a monster TV usually showing the game. Last time, there was a crazy Lifetime tearjerker on called "Why Men Cheat" and all the old guys who come for the home cooking were tucking into their steak and eggs, watching with great attention & nodding along.

Also, just for Doug, it is old-school smoking at every table... no no-smoking allowed. We are pretty sure the health inspector hasn't been snooting around here anytime in the last half-century and we don't much care. CW runs a tight enuf ship and the prices are great.

If you are a lady-wrecker, you may get offered an escort to your car or bus stop after, but that's not a sign of dangerous neighborhood up here, just a standard wrecker bar pickup line :-)

Home in either sense? Person that cleans up car wrecks? I don't know.

"Wreckers bar", meaning heavily frequented by demolitionists where the lowest age limit is well over 21, such as 35, 45, etc. This same type of place in Scotland is called a "man's pub". No frills, no meat market.

CW's is "homey" in the sense of pleasant, warm, inviting. There's no lower age limit.

There is a bar called "Biker's Corner" at the corner of Vandeventer/ North Market that is 35 and up... I always wondered how strictly that was enforced

CW's on Natural Bridge was on a local cable show today with Freeman Bosley Sr. interviewing CW and talking about redevelopment in Hyde Park.

Looks like a nice little joint. The Sr. Bos though was saying three years ago there were "no restaurants in St. Louis city north of Delmar" and that even now CW's is only one of three functioning restaurants in North city.

What?!?
