Second historic district proposed for Carondelet

More Carondelet rehabbers will get money back when they pay their taxes if a proposed historic district comes about.

The Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation might consider in November a proposal for a Central Carondelet National Register Historic District.

The boundaries of the district would be basically Koeln Avenue on the South, South Broadway on the east, Loughborough Avenue on the north and Alabama Avenue on the west.

The district would be just north of the existing St. Boniface National Register Historic District. The boundaries of that district are Koeln on the north, South Broadway on the east, Alabama Avenue on the west and Tesson Street on the south.

I really hope it succeeds in getting the designation.

...Now that I think about it, I've never seen a Carondelet photo topic in the photography forum. How about another mini-meet to take pictures of the historic town of Carondelet, one of the city's oldest neighborhoods?

I would LOVE to see some Carondelet pics and find out more about this area.

I'll try to get a meeting together, Expat.

If not, I only live two miles away from Carondelet at most. Someone will have to try to teach me how to post photos on here (i.e. get them on a website). Then I could take some pictures of the area myself in case no one could meet up.

Sounds good, Matt. Carondelet's photo thread is long overdue.

After driving through Dutchtown on Saturday, I think it needs some love too.

A good friend of mine just started in the rehab business, finishing a duplex on Sunshine. He just acquired a new property across from Carondelet just off Grand. It's an awesome house and he got it for $130K.

Just another one of the many spectacular neighborhoods in STL.

And my buddy is one of the good rehabbers. I was blown away by the side he recently finished on Sunshine.
