Jimmy Johns is coming to 3117 S. Grand, which is the spot where the Mojos tapas and wine bar was. South Grand has finally arrived!

Is that the space with the corresponding rooftop?

^ It is the ground floor space of the Dickmann Building, the tall white building just south of the used book store.

Super cool building. Anyone have a bead on what the upper floors are used for?

^ It is a super-cool building. I'm not sure what the occupancy rate is, but there are a number of offices in the building. Missouri Coalition for the Environment moved in earlier this year.

My long-term vision for the area is to have a tear-down of the Commerce Bank and have a contemporary complement of the Dickmann there as you wouldn't need to take any housing. I'd also do a three story mixed-use of the one-story retail across the street.

I wish something would happen with this

Apparently something was, with the YMCA, but I guess that didn't happen and now they're both eyesores and no one can find the sign.

DickMann Building.

Is there a bar on the rooftop? You can see some type of awning when you're coming down grand.

I agree. At the very least, the city needs to make sure the building is in stable condition. The exterior bricks make me worry. And we've got to keep buildings like that.

here's a link to the second-to-last page of the YMCA/Pelican thread:

they were both purchased by a CA based company back in January. Alderman Ingrassia seems to be on top of it.

I think they'll be a nice addition to the tower grove area neighborhoods, but I wish they would've landed in a less high-profile location. There are other, less great, vacant storefronts on south grand I wish they would've taken as I think that building deserves a high profile restaurant. Mojo was good, but i suppose in the handful of times i was there, it was never as busy as I figured it should be.

hopefully in not too many years, turnover will happen again and something great will go in the space.

I have been inside the Dickmann building- it has an awesome lobby and a rooftop deck with great views of the city. The upper floors are offices, though I don't think it's fully occupied. The building is owned by Matt Ghio, an attorney and Landmarks Association board member. You may remember his name because of his involvement in trying to save the Century a Building.
