Does anyone know what's going on at the Verizon facility at 1710 MLK? There's a $20M building permit for an office space addition and a $12M electrical permit among others.

I once heard from a family member (who was a Verizon engineer at the time) that the space on MLK was just a switching facility for Verizon's cell service. No corporate activity and just a few offices for the on-site engineers monitoring the system. At least that was the case about 4 years ago. I can't imagine that Verizon now intends to add a satellite corporate office or something like that to the parcel. I'll have to ask my family member if any of their old contacts at Verizon might have an idea what it is about.
