I have only been here a few times for concerts, what does everyone think of it?

Probably the best thing for Pops was to remodel itself as a concert venue. I guess if you go on non-concert nights it might still draw a pretty rough crowd, but I think it was a lot scarier place to be a decade ago.
Hmm. I don't think I would say Pop's was "scarier" a decade ago. It always seemed like more of a honky tonk pre-fire. There were lots of hoosiers, frat boys, service workers, alcoholics, one night stand seekers, people with nothing better to do, etc., just like now.
However, with the admittedly questionable assumption that drinking or drugging yourself into a coma, starting fights, and/or trying to find someone, anyone, to have sex with you for free, are "legitimate" activities, I will say that there seem to be more people at Pop's now that are not as interested in partaking in these "legitimate" activities as they are in preying on, or purveying to, those that are.

I saw The Cramps there a while ago. Very strange to see the transformation of the crowd from black leather, spikey, tatoo types (The Cramps played early) to the usual drunken South Countians arriving later for the classic-rock cover band.
But really, we were all there for a good time, so no problem.

What I don't get is although I have only been there a few times it didn't seem all that bad. The crowd is irrelevant because that changes from show to show, and every show has people you would rather not be around, no matter the music or establishment.
The employees there have all, always been very nice to me, and a few have even gone out of their way to be nice. Which is more then I can say at other places.
I guess my thing with it is, I hear so much negativity about Pops, I was hesitant to go there, what is the problem? Why so much hatred for the place?

I haven't heard any hatred towards the place...
If you live by the "Don't cross rivers at night" rule, then you'll likely stay out of trouble.

I have been to a few more concerts there and still have had no problems, but have heard that a lot of people have issue with the bouncers there. That they have attitudes and are rude. This is coming for females, not males. And they all say it about ONE in particular, I won't mention any names, but if you have any specific info on the bouncers please let me know. I would love to find out if it is just my "friends" can't handle this one guy, or is he really a jerk that is best to be avoided.
Best part about Pop's... it never closes. When you are getting off work at 5 AM on a Saturday night (Sunday morning) and need to wind down, what a better place than Pop's to grab a beer and watch the completely wasted people around you act like idiots... good times!
