Looks like my hopes for a downtown Hofbrau Haus may be dashed by the nuns of Belleville...

A six-story, 130-room Hyatt Place hotel and a Munich, Germany-based brewery and restaurant are among the businesses that could spring up on newly-annexed city land across Illinois 15 from the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.

They should spend this money in downtown Belleville. The idea of some huge, hoosiery convention center sounds awful and will likely last eight years at best. Belleville has a really cool Main Street/downtown. They should focus on that as their main, redevelopment asset.
