don't worry, there won't be any in the city...they want to go to areas that show growth.....see Tim Logan's article today on STL growth, largest skyscraper soon-to-be-empty, etc....

Parts of the City have considerable growth but probably aren't the most breastaurant-friendly.

I went to one of these in Austin. My friend thought it was a Twin Peaks (as in the TV show) themed restaurant. Couldn't be farther from it! It's Hooters with a mountain theme instead of owls.

Soulard wouldn't have a problem as they already have places like DB's, Carson's, Johnny's etc. But could you imagine the Central West End NIMBY's if Twin Peaks tried to move into the old Pasta House spot?

Midtown Alley, Ballpark Village (even though it would compete with Hooters), LaClede's Landing or Downtown West.

I think that would be one instance of NIMBYism that I would agree with.

Why far, far away from the city?

Actually Soulard might oppose a corporate Brestaurant as it would infringe on the mom and pop ones that have operated for decades (Johnny's, Carson's)

And whatever the attire of the servers the last thing the neighborhood needs is another beer, burger, wings, and pizza joint.

The only new eatery I'd like to see in the neighborhood is sushi or Thai.

Other than that we're full up.

There used to be a strip club in, I believe, Collinsville named Dottie's Body Shop. I'm sure the stories were urban legends, but my Collinsville friends all had tales about people walking into the strip club thinking it was a place they could get dents removed from their cars.

You wouldn't think it would be a big deal, but when The Sultry Donut wanted to move into the place that eventually became Epic Pizza there were a lot of angry Soulardians.
