You can go here and find copies of death certificates in Missouri 1910-1957. It's a pretty useful tool.

Anyway, You can type in a year (between 1910-1957) and click St. Louis City (where it says "county"). Any death certificate you find it seems like the house they lived in does not exist anymore. You would think that with blacks (since they seem more concentrated on the North Side (although Mill Creek Valley is another area), which has seen more decay, but that's not necessarily the case. It's like any area of the city has these disappearing houses. It's a little sad.

Anyway, it's interesting to find the address listed of the house and look at Street View.

Sometimes street names do change. I believe at one time Delmar was Morgan St. There is still a short Morgan street down by the river I believe.

That's actually pretty easily explained. The majority of the residents of north St. Louis during the available time were actually white. Not until white flight really set in did north St. Louis turn majority black. There's a lot of older people in the St. Louis area that complain what the "black people" did to their homes.
