Maybe somebody more educated on St. Louis history can help me out.

I found a picture of this ad reading "St. Louis Corset Company" at 19th and Morgan Streets.

On any map I can find, 19th and Morgan do not intersect. Morgan turns into Convention Plaza, then it becomes Delmar Blvd. Delmar Blvd. at 19th Street shows an old Furniture store, an empty lot, A large, well-kept building, and Fritz Brothers, Inc, which looks like a modern building.

I just found it strange that Morgan at 19th no longer exists, but I guess in over 100 years street names also change.

According to this site http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/thomagene/ ... reets.html

Some of Morgan was renamed Delmar, so Delmar at 19th must be the right intersection. Since the one older building at the intersection appears to have been a furniture store, I'm guessing the St. Louis Corset Company building was probably obliterated years ago.

A search for St. Louis Corset Co. (or Company) does not yield any results on Google Search.

Here's a link to 19th at Delmar on Google Maps Street View

I like the old signs along the furniture store building. It looks like a handsome building. It's For Lease, so I hope some business moves in there (of course Street View is from last fall, so it may already be occupied).

If anyone knows anything about St. Louis Corset Co., the building, or Morgan St. becoming Delmar, I would appreciate any info you may have. Thanks.

Morgan Street did become Delmar.

The 1903 Sanborn fire insurance map shows the St. Louis Corset Company factory at the southwest corner of 19th and Delmar. The building still stands.

So I guess it became a "Consolidated furniture" store later?

Thanks.

And that's a cute building.
