The Wine Press is open and looks great! It's so great to see this formerly desolate stretch of Olive filled with people again. There is outdoor seating and every table was filled the other night. I hope this will push development further east and west along this wonderfully varied street.

I, (Frank) will no longer be working on The Wine Press. The Wine Press is now entirely in the hands of Mr. Greg Stevens. I wish him the best of luck with the remainder of the project.

-Frank-

That's a shame. I believe Frank was the one that came to our neighborhood association meeting to inform us of this project and ask for our support? That's a shame. It sounds like Greg may have used Frank, now no longer needed him, and squeezed him out. Frank should sue if these assumptions are true.

^ And you're basing this on what? What does your gossip accomplish? I don't see how it could be seen as productive.

All I was saying is that Frank seemed like a nice motivated guy when he presented the project to our Fullerton Westminster neighborhood association meeting. I just would hate for anyone to be taken advantage of after all the hard work.

^ So you're making the assumption that he was taken advantage of because he is no longer working on the project and he's a nice guy? Remind me not to invite you to social hour.

Hey all,

No, ikazy1, I did not get used and squeezed out of the project, I voluntarily left for reasons of my own. I'm glad to hear that the Wine Press is doing a brisk business and I wish Greg Stevens the best of luck.

On an unrelated not I'm glad to hear that I came off well at the Westminster Fullerton meeting. It was my first foray into neighborhood politics and it was -ahem- a valuable learning experience.

That's great to hear. I wish you the best luck with you and your new family.

Note the above. The comment provoked the answer to my underlying question. No social hour invite? Are you serious? I can't believe you'd hurt me in such a way. I guess you'll have to continue your fun without me. :D

Yes indeed. All in good fun. I'll make sure I walk around there tonight and enjoy the new establishment. Any special wines I should try? I'm a dry white wine (chardonay) type of guy.

I drove by this evening to see where it was. I just read a write-up in either Sauce or RFT and thought it sounded interesting. It looks like an interesting space, but was dark with no signs of life besides an "open" sign on the window.

As far as the neighborhood goes, the article talked about how is is kind of "off the beaten path", and I would have to agree. However, the residences next door look nice and it seems there is some potential for some quality retail in some unique spaces around the corner of Olive and Taylor.

Even though I knew where this place was, I took a drive by today just to see where it is in relation to the rest of the CWE. It is off the beaten path, but to me that's part of the appeal. Olive Street has so much potential IMHO, especially now that one can drive from downtown all the way through to the CWE without any dead ends or cul-de-sacs. Hopefully it won't be too many years before this becomes one of St. Louis' great streets once again. 8)

Even with the economic downturn, there are plenty of new places to try around town, so I'll have to add this one to the growing list!
