Somewhat disappointed that of all the great TVs they have down there they couldn't get one to show the Blues game. As much fun as it was to watch all the college football blowouts, not showing a game with local interest when you are billed as a sports bar is a slap in the face.

Granted, it was cool to see groups of Iowa, Texas Tech, Utah, OU alums out watching their teams, but there has to be some way to accommodate.

Sidenote: It looked like a Superfans convention in there: Moustaches galore clad in Bears gear....no wonder they were out of the ribs by 8 pm.

Hope the Rams can give them a good game today.

I'm always shocked by the numerous bars that do not show the Blues... It happens all over the city.

I guess most people prefer to watch good teams and good games rather than a bad hockey team in a minor sport.

So you asked to have the Blues game put on one of the TVs, and they refused?

I'll take hockey any day over college football. I've always thought it was weird how grown men could root for 20 year old boys.

I'm guess I'm an exception that would rather watch a St. Louis based team versus a team from Texas or Iowa.

Same applies for college hockey.

Seriously though, I've found many bars will flip a TV to the Blues game if you ask nicely.

This is true. Unless everyone wants to watch college football. But most bars will have a TV in the corner for people who want to watch the Blues, for some strange reason. Sort of like watching the Rams.

This has nothing to do with liking college football more or less than hockey or any other sport. I like to follow my teams. I live in St Louis. I was in a St Louis bar. I was hoping to watch my hockey team play and they refused. I had fun watching the college football, but it wasn't my first choice. I don't care how bad the Blues are, I like to watch them play.

And the college game that was supposed to be an amazing game was an absolute blowout. Our mediocre hockey team pulled out a 2 to 1 victory.

I also sat through the whole Rams game on Sunday. Because I thought they would win? No, because I enjoy football but enjoy having a team to cheer for even more, and if they would have pulled off a miracle, even better. How fun would following a team be if we all only gave a $hit when they were good. How could you appreciate any success?

So sorry, CS, for being interested in the teams that play here and liking blue collar sports. Please pardon my simple ways. Do you only go watch SLU soccer during winning seasons?

Well, since they've had winning seasons for as long as I've had season tickets, I guess the answer is yes.

BTW, Bills vs. Indiana tonight at 6. I know there's a gametracker on slubillikens.com, not sure if there's a live feed or not.

You folks do realize that there are quite a few alumni and alumnae of schools in Texas and Iowa (and most other central U.S. states) in our fair city, don't you?

Fair enough, CS. Hopefully those winning ways will permeate SLU basketball.

Yep. I doubt it on the live feed, unless you paid th $79 for the online season pass.

With Patterson out (and I assume Jarmillo and Sweeten remain out), I think the best we can hope for is a 0-0 tie and then win on PK's.

Actually, even with our "young" team, only three players are under the age of 24. Most are late 20s and early 30s.

Skybox no more. This place is now called At The Levee

Anyone have an idea why Skybox closed? Is At the Levee a sports bar and is it still owned by Nelly?

I'd assume they closed due to lack of business. I went there on the weekend of the All-Star game and the place was nearly empty even though the landing was packed with people.

Correction: It seems the new place is actually called The Levee. Not At The Levee.

70 HI DEF SCREENS??? What is that - over 200,000 worth of restaurant in just the TVs? Why?

I'm a bit concerned about the menu honestly. Nothing on it seems that special for the area, and the prices are generally higher I think that closer sports bars like Show Mes or Hooters. Plus, what's with the small "dinner" menus filed with steaks? Is this a bar trying to be a restaurant, or a restaurant trying to be a bar? I certainly hope the food is good, and hope this place does well for the St. Louis sports bar scene - but right now, all signs point to iffy.

Remember when? I'm not happy a place closed (or changed names or whatever), I just like pointing out when I'm right, on that rare occasion.

After reading the FOODIES UPDATE thread, I saw that this place is suppose to become "King Louie's Courtyard Bar & Pizzeria". The address of 800 North 3rd St. seemed to match the location on a map.

Yeah, it was open for a few days as The Levee and then it closed again.

Weird.

^ That doesn't sound good. Someone's trying a bit too hard. I guess I won't change the name of this thread until the owners can decide on a proper name and stick with it for more than a week or two.

Sheesh, and I thought banks were bad about changing names! :)
