This thread always reminds me of how the "Skinnytown" moniker never took off.
300K is probably 20% more than the building sold for - so this will be a big renovation
I always thought the "Skinnytown" name seemed forced (while The Grove does not) - It sounded too "Chicago" for that area

I read somewhere that it was because Morgan Ford was a narrower street than Grand.stlhistory wrote:What was the origin of the Skinnytown moniker?
I never once heard it before seeing the title of this thread.debaliviere wrote:This thread always reminds me of how the "Skinnytown" moniker never took off.

I prefer to call Morgan Ford "Mo Fo," in a most endearing way.

I've only heard it called Skinnytown on this forum thread. I too like the MoFo moniker. I have a t-shirt from The Silver Ballroom with the address listed as MoFo Road. When I wear it out of town a lot of people comment on it.
I also thought is was just this forum that tried to push that name.rawest1 wrote:I never once heard it before seeing the title of this thread.debaliviere wrote:This thread always reminds me of how the "Skinnytown" moniker never took off.

Haha yeah, I always just hear it called "Morganford," or the "Morganford strip". Maybe we should give up and just change the thread title...
