Nice story. Didn't know there's going to be a street festival this year.
So Morgan Ford was some guy's name (first and last). I always assumed it was a river ford on the property of someone named Morgan (as in Morgan's Ford).

^didn't catch that at first. You're right, Morgan Ford was was named after Morgan and the ford where it crossed the River DesPeres.
^The article says the street was named after Mr. Ford.
Morgan (first name)
Ford (second name)
Either way, I'm confused.

Coming Saturday, Oct. 3 is the first annual Morgan Ford in Motion! There aren't many details on the website, except for bands.

According to the "Streets of St. Louis" book, the street is named after a Ford of the river Des Peres owned by a Mr. Morgan. I'll post the exact wording from the book once I return home on Friday. It's been pretty darn accurate for most other streets so I have no reason to doubt it.

^Yeah, that makes more sense to me. I suspect the Post article was not quite accurate.
My favorite literal street name is Natural Bridge, which used to cross a partially collapsed cave system, which formed a "natural bridge".

^I also like St. Charles Rock Road, named for the fact it went to St. Charles and was originally gravel.

Any word on the pinball place happening. News has been pretty mush dead on that or a while. I am still trying to figure out the photo place too. There must be five or six machines in the place now and I can't imagine that is going to just be for show. Any ideas?
As of last week the pinball cafe folks were trying to nail down the last signatures they needed for their liquor license at their new location further south near bevo, at the corner of Morganford and Itaska.

I am confused with this. My parents live on the same block as the proposed pinball cafe and the petition gave an address in the Morgan Ford Strip in TGS (Skinnytown).
Do the owners live in that section of Morgan Ford or something? Either way, I will be more than excited to have an incredibly convenient dining/drinks/entertainment option when I drop in on the parents next.
My mom called to tell me that the prospective Pinball Cafe owner literally needed only one more signature and he was hoping my brother would sign.
While I haven't gotten word back that he did, I couldn't see why he wouldn't. So, unless that was a ploy to make the situation seem more desperate, it should be good to go!

There's an 'opening soon' sign in the window of the 3182 Morgan Ford (at Connecticut) building that seems to been under rehab forever. It'll be a restaurant called Plaza Cafe and Grill.
From the looks of it, the interior has been ready for sometime so I imagine they've been waiting for the economy to pick up before making the leap.

Sounds good. I think Morgan Ford can make retail work, so I do hope to see more Grove Furnishings, Vintage Haberdasheries, and Future Antiques as opposed to another St. Louis "restaurant row".

Plaza Cafe. Plaza Donuts. What plaza are they referring to?

You know the old Family Dollar building? It, plus this building that will house the Plaza Cafe, form a "bracket" shaped building that I think they're referring to as a plaza.
I've tried three times to go to Plaza Donuts, but they've been closed every time (morning and afternoon), at least once contrary to their posted hours.
What kind of donut place is closed at 7:45 a.m.?
And why do so many small business not understand that the first and most essential step to making money is opening your doors when you say you will?

Cool. I was across the street at TFA just yesterday, noticed the sign and wondered what was going on. I'll have to check them out.

Looks like Local Harvest is moving a few doors north (bigger location?).
Much bigger location for Local Harvest. IIRC, 3x the size of their existing store. It is sorely needed.
