I'm almost 30, I wonder which crowd I'd fit into if somebody observed me hanging out. Would they think, 'This place is for an older crowd?' Yikes.
So I spoke to the gentlemen who have been working on the building at the corner of Hartford and Morganford and they gave me some information that may be of interest.
This is the building I'm talking about:
Regarding the use of the property, apparently some things have been decided and other things are up in the air at this point. The guy said the upstairs of the building is (will be) residential but the downstairs will be commercial of some kind. The specific use of the commercial space is still to be determined but the guy said that they plan to go with top of the line finishes, etc.
It's obviously still too early to tell but it sounds like they are going to try and rehab this building into an establishment the same calibre as other area establishments (Tin Can, Stella Blues, Grove Furniture, Local Harvest, etc). Exciting stuff.
The guy said the place wasn't much to see at the moment but promised to show us around once they get a little farther along. I'll be sure to bring the camera.

"Marti Frumhoff - friend, colleague, sister, activist, daughter, artist, community leader - only a few of the many ways to describe one person who touched so many and who was taken from us far too soon.
![]()
Welcome to our online memorial site dedicated to creating a physical rememberace to thank Marti for the positive impact she had on each of us and our City. Marti contributed so much, and we want to create something in her honor to remember those contributions that she left as her legacy.
Enter the memorial garden. Proposed at hand is a slice of land within the Tower Grove South neighborhood (Marti’s home for the last 20+ years), located at the intersection of Morgan Ford and Utah St along the edge of the burgeoning Morganford business district. The Morgan Ford business district encompasses what Marti would have referred to as an “urban main street” - the subject of over a year’s worth of work on a forthcoming website project Marti was developing, thus marking this location and site as an appropriate option for us to explore. Marti was also the founder of the St. Louis Rehabbers Club as well as President of ReVitalize St. Louis."

The following event is being organized in part by Christopher Thiemet who was a personal friend of Marti Frumhoff. I am posting this information here with his permission:
"Come to a great locally-owned restaurant and for a modest donation of $25 you get access to the full appetizer buffet as well as two drink tickets! All proceeds of your $25 donation go directly toward making the garden (as described in the website above) come to life. So mark your calendars and please pass this along to anyone and everyone, the more the merrier! Even if you did not know Marti Frumhoff personally, she in some way did touch your life by all she did for the City, so come join us and help us make this garden into part of her legacy she left behind!
Saturday, August 4 - AT THE TIN CAN - FUNDRAISER for MARTI's Garden
Time: 6-8pm
Donation $25 at the door, for buffet and two drinks
Music will be provided by Tower Grove Heights resident Gen Obata and another band called Forbidden Fruit Snakes.
PLEASE RSVP to my co-organizer for a head-count for buffet planning at: xianherman@cs.com"

Doug wrote:So Stella Blues is a pretty nice hangout. Was there last night for my second time. They have a pretty good beer selection too. The crowd was 30 and older but I have been there on a weekend night. Nice looking twentysomethings.
So, a friend and I are cohosting a pub crawl with Metropolis to check out the MorganFord area - feel free to come out! More info at www.mstl.org look for the calendar and then the Walk. Starting at Stella Blues at 6:30p Thursday, Aug. 2.
Article in this mornings S S Journal about business on MOFO.
I am trying a new way of linking, hopefully it works.

Interesting article in the Post today about some pub-crawlers who've been doing Morganford for 17 years. Lot's of talk about the changes, etc. Sorry, don't know how to post the link.
I noticed the upcoming location of Three Monkeys this morning on my way to work. It looks great! The windows were unveiled but I didn't get a good look inside. Nice menus are up in the windows too.
Anyone heard any news of an opening date? I'm looking forward to lunch there!!

Awesome - this place is immediately north of the Tin Can Tavern, if I'm not mistaken.

you are correct Debalievere, just north of Tin Can at Morganford and Juniata. I noticed how quickly the place was getting done when we went to TinCan a week ago for my gf's birthday. Should be a great addition to the neighborhood

Anyone know whats going on at the corner of Morganford and Wyoming? The building was a former grocery store with a parking lot on the north. It had been vacant for a long time with papered windows.
I drove by a couple of days ago and there was significant work being done, include an addition being built on the back portion of the parking lot.

Stella Blues, Tin Can, and now Three Monkeys?
Where's that emoticon for kicking myself in the arse for not buying a house off of Morganford Road when I had the chance two years ago?

Don't forget Tower Pub, Imos, and Local Harvest Grocery, and the bike shop on the corner at Arsenal.

^ All good places. Hey, you're only making me feel worse about not buying that house, you know...

I'm not sure what's going in there but just across the street from there at 3195 Morgan Ford there's now a sign in the window that says "Coming Soon." I don't know what's going on there either.
Hmmmm...anyone with any clues?? Seems like this whole area is one big huge "Coming Soon" sign! How exciting!

Wow. 3 Monkeys not very good based on one breakfast visit. Soft scrambled eggs thatwere fried and how do you make a waffle taste this bad?

^ Ugh. Hopefully they'll get it right soon- I love Stella Blues, so I want this place to succeed as well.
